U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods, and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.58% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P500 index gained 0.29%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.40%.
Boeing Co (NYSE: BA) added 3.28% or 8.38 points to end at 263.59 and Caterpillar Inc (NYSE: CAT) was up 3.17% or 7.17 points to 233.63 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA), which fell 1.11% or 0.61 points to trade at 54.10 at the close. Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) declined 0.83% or 1.11 points to end at 132.28 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V) was down 0.75% or 1.68 points to 223.02.
The recent surge higher still indicates an upturn, alerting for a larger advance to indicate new highs. Near term days have been working through consolidation of gains. Just a close under 32690 is short term bearish.
